About Marcia Buhler, MA, R.Psych

Parenting is one of the most important, and also one of the most difficult and vulnerable roles one will ever hold. When issues arise with your child, you may fear that you are not doing enough or that you are damaging your child in some way. I will work to create a safe and trusting experience that explores the hard work of parenting, the feelings and the difficulties that arise, and help you learn what areas get activated in you from your life story, so that you can move towards thriving as a parent. We will also get curious about your child’s behaviour and what it is trying to communicate. This curiosity will lead us to discover a more coherent roadmap and then ways for you to respond that are practical, evidence based, and effective.

I completed a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy and I am a Registered Psychologist in Alberta, Canada. I began providing counselling with children and parents more than 20 years ago. What I have learned is that a strong parent-child relationship is the foundation for a child’s success and has an enduring effect. My role will be to provide support, reflection, awareness, empathy, and the learning of new skills. My hope is that our work together will increase your confidence in supporting your child through difficult behaviours, emotions and adversity. We know that courage is at the root of all change. In this journey of change, I would welcome the opportunity to partner with you in helping your family be more healthy and vibrant.
