Yesterday was a challenging day for democracy in the United States, no matter what your political views may be.
This morning I spoke with Susan Stiffelman about yesterday's events at the Capitol in Washington DC. We talked about how to offer comfort and support to anxious kids and ways to include children in conversation about differences in political beliefs.
I hope this conversation is helpful to parents and kids alike. I hope you'll listen.

And here's a PBS Classroom resource with some excellent guidance on talking with kids about this event, including discussion questions: Three ways to teach the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.
